  1. JAPANESE LANGUAGE KIT

Welcome to the Japanese Language Kit! This kit contains all the software you need to work in Japanese on your computer. With it, you can use a Japanese application program, or a program that takes advantage of WorldScript, to enter Japanese and other languages you work with in a single document.

  6. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  8. To install the Japanese Language Kit you must be using Macintosh system software version 7.1 or later. You will also need the following configuration:

  10. • a hard disk with at least 20 megabytes available if you plan to install the TrueType font
  11.  
  12. • at least 4 megabytes of RAM
  13.

  15. ABOUT INSTALLATION
  16.  
  17. It is recommended that you use Easy Install. This will install the entire Japanese Language Kit, including the TrueType fonts. If the Installer indicates that you don't have enough space to complete this installation, then use the Customize button to install the parts of the Language Kit separately. If you do not need or want the TrueType fonts, use the Customize button, and choose only the "Japanese language support" option, which requires 2 megabytes of space.

  20. NOTE FOR PERFORMA USERS

  22. If the language kit will not install, please contact your dealer to obtain the latest version of Performa software.

If your system has a Performa control panel, you will need to use it to turn off Finder Hiding. The steps are: Choose Control Panels from the Apple menu. Open the Performa control panel. Make sure that the checkbox next to Finder Hiding is unchecked. If the box is checked, click it to remove the checkmark. Close the Performa control panel. Then, install the langauge kit.

  27. INSTALLING CHINESE, KOREAN, OR KANJITALK SYSTEMS

  29. If you plan to install or reinstall a Chinese, Korean, or KanjiTalk system, then you should install your system software BEFORE you install the Japanese Language Kit or any other language kit.

  31. If you already have a language kit on your computer, you should reinstall it after you install your Chinese, Korean, or KanjiTalk system.

  34. USING THE LASERWRITER NTX-J
  35.  
  36. If you have a LaserWriter NTX-J, you need to install the ChuGothic and SaiMincho fonts using the Customize button.
